1 Background
Earthfeeds Group LTD is an innovative and vertically integrated circular economy enterprise, specialising in the production and distribution of poultry feeds, insect proteins and organic fertilisers. This is a highly technical process, we are therefore seeking for a Quality Control Manager/Technician with very good back in animal nutrition, to join our excellent team on ground.
We are looking for a dynamic and energetic person to join our team as a Quality Control Manager/Technician. The role of the Technician is to support with developing optimal feeds formulations and quality control.
2 Objectives
The poultry industry is a vital sector that requires nutritionally balanced feeds to ensure the health and productivity of birds. This ToR outlines the roles and responsibilities of a poultry feeds Quality Control Manager tasked with developing optimal feed formulations.
3 Scope of Work
The poultry feeds formulator will be responsible for:
3.1 Nutritional Analysis:
- Conducting a comprehensive nutritional analysis to determine the specific dietary needs of different poultry categories.
- Ensuring that all formulated feeds meet the recommended nutritional requirements.
3.2 Ingredient Selection:
- Identifying and selecting appropriate feed ingredients based on nutritional content, availability, cost, and quality.
- Sourcing alternative ingredients if traditional ones are unavailable or too costly.
3.3 Formulation Development:
- Developing feed formulations for various stages of poultry growth: starter, grower, layer, and finisher.
- Creating formulations that are palatable, easily digestible, and promote optimal growth and production.
3.4 Quality Control:
- Establishing quality control protocols to ensure consistency and safety of the formulated feeds.
- Regularly testing feed samples for nutrient content and contaminants.
3.5 Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensuring that all feed formulations comply with local and international feed regulations and standards.
- Keeping abreast of any changes in regulations and updating formulations as necessary.
3.6 Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintaining detailed records of feed formulations, ingredient specifications, and test results.
- Providing regular reports on formulation activities, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
3.7 Technical Support and Training:
- Offering technical support to the feed production team.
- Conducting training sessions on feed formulation and quality control for staff.
4 Deliverables
The key deliverables include:
- Nutritional profiles for various poultry categories.
- Detailed feed formulations for starter, grower, layer, and finisher feeds.
- Quality control protocols and testing results.
- Compliance documentation for regulatory standards.
- Monthly/quarterly reports on feed formulation activities.
5 Duration and Location
This is a full-time position based at our location in Arua City, Uganda. The initial contract will be for one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance.
6 Reporting
The Quality Control Manager/Technician will report to the Operations Manager, providing regular updates on progress and any issues encountered.
7 Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate should have:
- A degree in animal nutrition, veterinary science, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in poultry feed formulation.
- Knowledge of feed ingredients and their nutritional values.
- Familiarity with feed regulatory standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
8 Evaluation Criteria
Performance will be evaluated based on the quality and timeliness of deliverables, adherence to nutritional standards, and the effectiveness of the formulated feeds in promoting poultry health and productivity.
9 Compensation
A competitive salary package will be offered, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
