Our

Living Labouratory

bsf life cycle

We produce high quality products from the well-established process of Black Soldier Flies (BSF), processing organic waste into alternative proteins, oil and fertiliser. This process results in the upcycling of waste, while producing BSF larva with high protein and lipid content
The schematic below illustrates the lifecycle of a black soldier fly, which lasts for 45 days. The Larva of BSF feeds on organic waste and can consume up to 10 times their own body weight.

We harvest the larva, dry it and use it in our factory as input for animal feeds. This is a substitute for soya and fishmeal in the production of feeds for poultry, pets, fish and piggery. This process of substituting conventional protein sources with alterative proteins from BSF results in the cost reduction of between 20- 30%. This is important because, it reduces the cost of proteins to vulnerable communities, thus reducing food insecurity.

Our Operation

Our Factory

Manufacturing of animal feeds pellets

In our factory we take the products from our Living Lab, namely the larva of black soldier flies (BSF), mix it with other ingredients, such as soya, vitamins and other micronutrients, to produce pelleted feeds for:

This process of substituting conventional sources of protein such as soya and fishmeal for animal production, reduces their environmental footprint of feed manufacturing and the cost of production.
